Kapchorwa

Kapchorwa District is located in eastern Uganda, on the slopes of Mount Elgon near the Kenyan border. It is known for its cool highland climate, scenic landscapes, and fertile soils. The district is home to the Sebei people and is famous for producing some of Uganda’s top long-distance runners, including Olympic champions. Key attractions include Sipi Falls — a series of stunning waterfalls popular with tourists and hikers — and opportunities for mountain climbing, coffee tours, and cultural experiences. Agriculture, especially growing maize, Irish potatoes, and Arabica coffee, is the backbone of the district’s economy.
