Bundibugyo District is in Western Uganda, located west of the Rwenzori Mountains and bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo. It was established as a district in 1974 and is well known for its fertile land. Cocoa farming is the main economic activity, with most households relying on it for income. Other important activities include growing food crops, fishing, and coffee farming. Bundibugyo also attracts tourists to Semuliki National Park, Sempaya hot springs, and the Rwenzori foothills. Infrastructure has improved through new roads and small hydroelectric power projects.
